Dance Dance Dance

On the last week Brooke's school puts on a dance festival.  This year the 5th grade danced to the Broadway Musical "Hairspray".  It was great!

Because she's my youngest I'm not chasing little kids around anymore and can thoroughly enjoy it.  I can't believe there's only one more year, and then "poof", no more dance festivals.  I'm so grateful for the teachers and volunteers that put so much time into teaching our kids great extracurricular things.

The Proposal

This post is for you Tayla and Cari!

Kinsey and Lane's proposal story:

Lane came to Terrence and asked permission to marry Kinsey Easter weekend.  It was great.  I wasn't there but Terrence told me Lane was confident and excited and promised to be good to Kinsey.
After they set a few ground rules, I was invited in and we told Lane how happy and excited we were that he was going to become part of our family.   We love how happy Kinsey is when she is with him.

Kinsey's finger is size 3 (baby fingers) so they had to have the ring they chose completely made from scratch because if it was sized it would ruin the ring.  It took forever.

Kinsey didn't know Lane had the ring when we went to Fishlake.  He was planning on proposing after our four wheeling day (where the four wheeler was wrecked).  He was going to take Kinsey on a four wheeler ride overlooking the valley and propose to her there.  After the wreck Kinsey wasn't too thrilled when he tried to get her to go again later that evening.  Not to mention, it was freezing.  So she just kept saying, "No thanks".  Terrence and I were dying.

The next day we all went to church at the Lodge. There's a restaurant outside the area they use for the chapel.  Lane talked to the restaurant workers and had them set up a table with candles that would be out of the way, gave him his camera, and told them what was going on.

After church Kinsey went to use the restroom and we left them there.  Lane walked her over to the table they had set up, bent down on one knee and asked her to marry him. She, of course, said "Yes".

Everyone in the restaurant was watching and clapping.  They even came over to congratulate them!

The following are pictures from one of the restaurant workers.  They were supposed to take pictures during- but I guess they got too excited watching and forgot!  There are also pictures they took themselves from the hood of their car when they went driving afterwards.

We're so happy for them.
Congrats Kinsey and Lane!

Sad to See it Go...

I'm sad to see the Spring LaCrosse season go.
The boys did great this year and even made it to the championship playoffs.
Our fun neighbor, Tappin has made it an annual event to roast brats on the sidelines for us.
Favorite day of the season for sure.

Loyal Fans.

Oh yeah, there was some of this going on too...
What a great season.  See you in the Fall!

Adventure

We ran into a little snaffu while out on the four wheelers.
Terrence and Conner were leading the pack on their dirt bikes up ahead of us and I was bringing up the rear.  There was a pretty technical hill up ahead.  It was slick and rocky.  The bikes went up and Kinsey followed right on up with Lane and Brooke as passengers.  I stopped to wait my turn and to my horror, the machine came tumbling down nose over tail throwing all three of them on the rocks with the machine bouncing over the tops of them.  All I could do was watch and scream, Oh no! oh no! oh no! (I didn't have time to swear).
I couldn't believe they walked away with just a few bruises and scratches.  I am so grateful.
Terrence (AKA Macgyver) had thrown rope
into the truck that morning and we were
able to haul the machine out.

Doesn't this look like a pretty depressed group?  This is
them with the four wheeler at the bottom of the mountain.
The picture is horrible because my lens accidentally got
knocked out of autofocus in all the confusion.

Kacey loves attacking it on this bike.
They all looked good so we took them out for ice cream.
  It makes everything better, right?
I'm not sure what to say about this.  Maybe, call the FASHION POLICE.
We went up to Johnson's Reservoir and walked across the dam.  The kids called it our dam walk.
Clever, I know.
This was leaving the cabin on Memorial Day.  Yeah, almost JUNE.
Hello, would someone please tell the weather man E N O U G H already.
Well, goodbye Fishlake.  It was a fun adventure.

Fishlake

When we first got to the Fishlake Cabin, Brooke set up shop right away.
She took art lessons from a friend of mine and is getting really good.
Notice in the next posts her wonderful outfit that SHE packed.
I love that my children are so independent :)
I saw this sweet little truck on the way to Capital Reef.
Uh oh.
Terrence is such a good sport when it comes to photo ops.
I just looked at him and said, "Oh cool!!  Let's take some pictures."
I'm sure he was thinking, what, of that ugly old thing?  But... we did.  Love him.

There were a few guys that worked at the junk yard looking over
and probably thinking we were either crazy-
or maybe they would sell something!
Even though Kacey looked GREAT in it, we left the truck there.
Then it was back on the road again toward Capital Reef.
We went through this tiny town called Torrey.
There is a beautiful canal running through the trees on the right.
Every time I see a Utah canal it reminds me of my Grandma Foley.
She taught me to swim in tennis shoes and jeans in her backyard canal in Hurricane.
It's amazing that you can go from this...

to this in less than an hour.

Dorkified

We always have Koda shaved at the beginning of the Summer because his coat leaves icky sheddings around the yard if we don't.
He looks like a completely different dog.  Seriously, he loves the attention he gets from the kids because it really is like getting a new, clean dog- even if he does looks sooooo dorky.
